80s Cover Band: The Mega 80s!

I just recently came across a website for a band called The Mega 80s and thought it would be great to share this information with my readers and visitors. Mega 80s is based in Michigan and their website (www.mega80s.com), indicates they only play in Michigan.
The success of the Mega 80′s has included playing at the Palace of Auburn Hills, being highlighted on Mitch Albom and Fox 2 News, and even voted “best cover band” by Real Detroit readers in the “Best of” issue 2003 and 2005. This year the Mega 80′s will be adding even more elements to their production.
The band features some of the greatest players in the Detroit area. Drummer Jason Gittinger is a musician that can do anything. Jason’s talent has been spotlighted many times, such as: TV specials with Kevin Bacon at the Fox Theater, recording international advertising campaigns for companies such as Cadillac, as well as extensive european tours with local and national acts. Guitarist Mick Khzouz, an accomplished musician that can play just about any guitar style, loves the positivity that the 80′s era has brought back. Ron Abraham, keyboardist for the band, has played keyboards in many different bands and has toured the world doing so. He now has found a permanent home in the land of the Mega 80′s. Ron’s hip stage demeanor and excellent vocal ability make him the perfect Mega 80. Takashi Iio is a respected jazz bassist. He compliments the Mega 80′s musically and comically. With his fresh dance moves and big smile, audiences love Takashi’s on stage antics.
Visiting the Mega 80′s website you can play arcade games in their “Flashback” section. They have games such as Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Duck Hunt, Frogger, Pac-Man as well as other 80′s era arcade games.
I apologize for not having any music clips to post. There were no clips on their website so I will need to contact the band via email. Stay tuned…

The Mega 80′s are now starting to have shows out side Michigan! Just recently, Live Nation hired them to play at the House of Blues in Cleveland Ohio where they packed the house! They have been voted Detroit’s best tribute band 5 years running and they pack the house evey venue they play. They play everything from Devo, Adam Ant, Rick Springfield and Price to Journey, Def Leppard, AC/DC and everything in between. Everything is carefully replicated and it truely is a mega 80s experience that brings you back you your youth, you forget everything and let loose, “foot loose” that is!
From a dedicated fan!

I forgot to mention, as far as music clips from the band themselves, none are needed. Just listen to those 80′s original classics and its just as if you are listening to the mega 80′s. They are that authentic! Most Michigan newspaper journalists write and quote that the mega 80′s are better than the original 80′s bands in concert, think its an exageration, check them out for yourself!
