Bret Michaels is released from hospital

Bret Michaels’ neurosurgeon said he has been released from the Phoenix, Arizona, hospital where he has been treated since suffering a massive brain hemorrhage 12 days ago.

Doctors “are feeling pretty confident” that Michaels will not suffer another hemorrhage and will fully recover.

The rock singer and reality TV star needs four to six weeks of rest before he can resume a normal schedule, Dr. Joseph Zabramski said.

His road manager announced last week that Michaels might be able to resume his concert tour on May 26, but his doctor said he asked Michaels to take it easy.

80s-Music.net is happy to hear Bret is recovering well and is released from the hospital!

Dokken – Dream Warriors music video

Since A Nightmare on Elm Street has just been re-released with a whole new cast, we thought it would be great to post one of our favorite Dokken videos. Just so happens it’s a song that was on the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors movie soundtrack.

The eerie sound of George Lynch’s riffs in the song and Don Dokken’s awesome voice takes us back to 1987. We hope it takes you back as well.

Five great 80′s songs made famous by director John Hughes movies

john_hughesWith the great loss of director John Hughes yesterday, I did a little searching and found 5 great 80′s songs that some were arguably made famous by his movies. I’ll let you be the judge.

Hughes’ ensemble comedies helped make stars out of Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and many other young performers. He also scripted the phenomenally popular “Home Alone,” which made little-known Macaulay Culkin a sensation as the 8-year-old accidentally abandoned by his vacationing family, and wrote or directed such hits as “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “Pretty in Pink,” “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” and “Uncle Buck.”

  1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – “Oh Yeah” by Yello

  2. Weird Science – “Weird Science” by Oingo Boingo

  3. The Breakfast Club – “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds

  4. Pretty in Pink – “Pretty in Pink” by Psychedelic Furs

  5. Sixteen Candles – “Turning Japanese” by the Vapors

Aerosmith’s Tyler airlifted to hospital

steven_tyler_motocyclesAerosmith’s singer, Steven Tyler, 61, reportedly suffered minor head and neck injuries and a shoulder injury early Thursday. Aerosmith was putting on a concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota, according to the Rapid City Journal newspaper.

It was said that Tyler fell off the stage as the band was performing “Love In an Elevator” and was then assisted backstage before being rushed to the Rapid City regional Hospital. Which gives “Gooooinnnng doooooowwwn” a new meaning.

Last year, Tyler returned to rehab in order to address a dependency on pain and sleep medication.

Rush Retrospective 3

Rumors have been circulating that Rush’s latest album Retrospective 3 is being delayed until February 2009, although Amazon is showing the album being released January 27, 2009. Guess we’ll have to see if the rumors are correct. For now, I’ll just put my pre-order in and hope for the best! I have to say that this album cover is one of Rush’s best and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen another band do anything similar to the concept. If you check out the album cover on Amazon, you can zoom in to see the detail. Retrospective 3 is a tribute or greatest hits album to all of Rush’s albums from Presto to Rush’s live CD set ‘Snakes & Arrows’. Rush just released Snakes & Arrows DVD recently as well.

Free Dr. Pepper for everyone! (kind of)

Well, when Dr. Pepper said that they would give everyone in America a free Dr. Pepper if Guns ‘N Roses released their Chinese Democracy CD this year everyone thought that 1.) Guns ‘N Roses won’t drop the Chinese Democracy album this year and 2.) Dr. Pepper is just doing this as a marketing stunt. Either way, Guns ‘N Roses fans thought Dr. Pepper would come through with their end of the bargain if for some chance G’NR would come out with their album this year. Which unbelievably they did.

G’NR’s fans and fans of free stuff went to Dr. P’s website to get their free Dr. Pepper within the 24 hour deadline and found the website down. Now fans and freebie hunters went after Guns ‘N Roses. Guns ‘N Roses’ lawyer Laurie Soriano fired off a letter to Dr. P to make good on their offer to G’NR’s fans or they will be slapped with a lawsuit. Since the letter, Dr. Pepper had extended the amount of time to 42 hours to allow folks to get their Pepper, but Guns ‘N Roses still wants an apology.
